Some countries use a decimal where we in the US would use a comma. For example, 6.000 in Costa Rica would actually mean 6,000 to us. Now figure out how much my Slamwich cost! BTW I believe the exchange rate is about 500 colones for $1 US.

cool!
hope u have fun
Mr. T -Interesting periods instead of commas. So how is the food? and Safe Travels!
i agree with patrick…it is like that in india also.
2.500 Colones
Hey Mr.T what is the largest turtle you have found?
Well if the slamwich over here is five dollars, is it around 2.500 colones? Aww man, someone all ready answered with the same answer……..
Hey Mr.T how many sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches of Costa Rica?
This nesting season (Oct-Mar) the biologists have identified 31 different turtles. They know this because each turtle has been previously tagged with a small microchip the size of a grain of rice. When we find a turtle we scan it to identify it. BTW, the scanner works just like the kind at the grocery stores.
Wow. The work of a marine biologist seems fascinating. I have to rethink this video game designer job…
Ack! Mr. T! I hope you didn’t pay $12.62 for your sandwich!!!
My. T, I think i got this! According to my calculations you paid $12.77 for your Grand Slamwich, and that is pretty expensive! I hope it tasted good!
Mr. T according to my calculation the sandwich cost $12.77 without tax. How much is the tax in Costa Rica
oh…i didn’t know that! they use decimal points instead of commas. well then, that would make your Grand Slamwich … about $12.62 in US dollars!!!
6.385 = 12.77 US dollars… i think… That’s so weird that they use decimal points as commas. What do they put when they need to write a real decimal like 0.0345?
Correct on the Slamwich, but the waiter and I got along very well so he asked for $10. I gave him a $2 tip. They put the comma where we would put the decimal. Strange, huh?
VERY strange. was your waiter from the US too?
No, but he likes teachers, especially those who volunteer for projects like saving sea turtles (no kidding).
On average how many eggs are in each nest
hey mr.t did you know that longline fishing started around the early 90′s????? i also learned that from the video that we watched yesterday and also are we really sending those letters to the secretary-general ban ki-moon????
Yes, I would like to really send these letters to the UN, so tell everyone to write a great, persuasive letter!
Money is way different in Costa Rica and the U.S., 500 colones for a dollar? That would be like 5000 colones = 10 dollars. Some countries are just weird with money ; )
Hey mr t are there any different cultires or foods there what holidays do they have in costa rica
That’s pretty interesting!! Have you gotten confused with this method of currency? I would mess my up to see decimals where commas are supposed to be! Was it hard to understand this method at first?
hmmm. so if we had a # like, say, 2,956.7834, they would put 2.956,7834. right
any way all this is amazing. have you had to save some eggs yet
